AREAS OF INTEREST

The Smart Urban Co-Innovation Lab works across government agencies and companies to bring Innovators and Enterprises one step closer to find and co-create solutions. Through a systematic process of understanding their needs, we scout and curate promising technology solutions to solve open innovation challenges. Contact us at [email protected] to discover, develop, demonstrate and deploy with us in these fields:

Advanced Manufacturing

Industry 4.0/Advanced Manufacturing explores solutions in high-mix-low-volume processes to optimize productivity.  In the overall process planning and management in a warehouse, robots work alongside workforce for tasks shaped by seasonal requirements and influence workflow and workspace designs while maintaining IT and Operational Technology security.

Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing offers new approaches to ways we work with data, and it enhances objectivity in our understanding of the environment – so much so that data is now known as the new oil that will drive solutions to address smart city challenges.

Healthcare

Healthcare focuses on enhancing operations in medical facilities, assisting patients’ recovery, and augmenting services by medical staff and caregiver. With the ageing demographics, and potentially a limited human resource; rising healthcare costs; and new diseases to battle, technologies need to come to the fore to address them all.

Intelligent Estate

Intelligent Estate covers the entire value chain of built environment from digital technologies in design and planning; to construction management; to operations, maintenance, and customer experience, etc. And it can span a single building, to a precinct and even a city. The end outcomes are intelligent buildings that are more energy efficient, higher operational productivity, and deliver best-in-class customer experience.

Smart Mobility

Smart Mobility goes beyond AV and EV to C-V2X that addresses safety for Vulnerable Road Users (VRU), fleet management for logistics operations, and, in controlling traffic junctions in a smart city, ease the movement of emergency vehicles. There would be implications on adjacent industries like insurance.

Smart Wellness

Smart Wellness leverages on technologies to keep the population mentally and physically well by addressing Indoor Air Quality at work, home, and at where we play. Making available physiological data that promote wellness and informed choice in lifestyles could perhaps be the apple we have been looking for.

Sustainability

Sustainability prioritises discovery, adoption, proliferation of technologies in energy efficiency, water conservation and waste treatment/processing. We would take a data-driven approach.

Urban Agriculture

Urban Agriculture explores solutions to support food and nutrition needs of urban populations through technologies and reference models for indoor and outdoor farming in an urban setting, as well as alternative proteins. These can be further expanded upstream and downstream to cover seed technologies, and integration into retail and distribution.

Urban Logistics

Urban Logistics deals with optimizing complex last-mile deliveries, the behind-the-scenes of e-commerce, or the congestions at shopping mall loading-and-unloading bays, etc.

5G & LoRaWAN:

Sub-6 5G and 5G mmWave, LoRaWAN, etc. are enabling technologies. We are interested to explore new applications to support the above 9 industry verticals:

  1. Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) for smart mobility in AVs, EVs and ICE vehicles
  2. Outdoor robotic solutions for last-mile delivery and cleaning
  3. Solutions to accelerate indoor 5G adoption
  4. Robot-elevator-door-gantry mobility-accessibility-productivity integration
  5. LoRaWAN IoT devices

BenchArt Singapore Science Park – Call for Innovative Solution

In celebration of Singapore Science Park’s 40th anniversary in 2023, CapitaLand Development (CLD) is embarking on “BenchArt Singapore Science Park” program – a new creative placemaking initiative to bring artworks closer to the local community and turn public and green spaces in the park into places that connect with the community.

The program involves the placement of 40 artistically decorated picnic benches in the open and public places within Singapore Science Park. With these installations, CLD hopes to draw corresponding technologies and analytics to better understand the utilization and pattern of use of the benches.

CLD, together with the Smart Urban Co-Innovation Lab (Lab), is launching this Call for Innovative Solution (CFIS) to address this analytic need.

We will conduct a briefing of the CFIS on 10 April 2023, 1.30pm – 3.00pm at the Lab. Please RSVP by scanning the QR code if you would like to attend the briefing.

Current Problem Statement Call

Do you think you have a solution for us?

Our company is a global leading logistics company that offers solutions in contract logistics, freight forwarding, parcel, supply chain management and ecommerce logistics. We are actively looking for solutions for the following 2 problem statements.

Problem Statement 1
Sortation assistance for couriers for last mile delivery
The manual identification of shipments by couriers based on reading shipping labels can lead to inefficiencies such as additional sorting duration.

Problem Statement 2
Tracking and locating shipments within Service Centers for exception handling
Our customers are allowed to amend their delivery requirements before delivery is complete. When customers make changes, such as delivery date or location, couriers need to identify and extract these shipments from the sorting process, which may include manually searching the facility.

We are seeking an innovative solution that can address BOTH problem statements, i.e.:
1. Will intuitively indicate to couriers when they need to retrieve a shipment off the conveyor, without them needing to read the shipping labels.
2. Will be able to accurately track and locate shipments within the facility.

Operational site: Singapore
Proof of Concept budget: Up to SGD 40,000/-

If you believe you have suitable solution or concept, please submit your interest via this form. Our team will be in contact with you.
Further details will be shared after an NDA is signed.
