02 Mar Wellness & Sustainability in Workplace,
The Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) significantly impacts the well-being and productivity of individuals across diverse indoor environments. We are privileged to have Derek Lee from JAS Worldwide and Maurice Tan from MOHT to share their experiences during the Members Get Together event on February 28, 2024. We discussed the critical role of IAQ and its correlation with productivity, sustainability, and more.

Derek shared their collaboration with the Smart Urban Co-Innovation Lab, where they have adopted cutting-edge technologies such as negative-pressurization/purging, Plasmacluster Ionizer (PCI), and IoT sensors/data-in-the-Cloud from Azbil, Sharp, and Display Science, respectively. The solutions help to contain airflow to alleviate risks of cross-contamination and on-demand to reduce energy consumption and related carbon emission, and provide JAS with real-time visualization capabilities.
Maurice highlighted the under-recognized IAQ in workspaces despite its pivotal role, particularly with the shift towards preventive healthcare in an aging population. As we anticipate forthcoming legislation, it's imperative for companies to proactively consider how they prioritize the well-being of their people. UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 8.8) emphasizes the importance of providing a safe and secure work environment, prompting us to question whether we are systematically and intentionally measuring IAQ and its impact on outcomes.
Engaging in such conversations allows us, as a community, to stay ahead of the curve and potentially shape future policies, rather than being caught off guard by their implementation.
